This options screen presents options for input and output devices. Device calibration is unavailable when working with units of FS for the selected audio device.
- Input Device
The current audio input path is automatically selected by iOS.
- Input Channels (Follow this link to learn more
about input channel options.)
- Audio Play Through
Turning this switch on will cause the audio input signal(s) to be routed to the current output device.
It may be best to turn this option off when working with the built-in signal generator.
- DC Blocking Filter
IOScope will apply a high-pass filter to input signals if this switch is turned on. (Audio inputs should
have their DC-component removed by hardware filters, but sometimes DC
offsets can be observed even in audio input signals on iPhone OS devices.)
- Device Units
Use the Device Units segment control to select the desired units for the input device.
- Calibrate
Tap Calibrate to manually enter a sensitivity for the input device, or automatically
calibrate its
sensitivity based on a known input level.
- Prefer Speaker Output
On the iPhone and iPhone 3G, the default audio output device is the receiver. The receiver is the small
speaker embedded in the front of the device, above the screen (it is used by the Phone app).
Since the original iPod touch does not have a receiver or a built-in speaker, this option has no effect
when running IOScope on that device. It does have an effect when using the iPod touch 2G,
however. These issues are discussed further on the
audio routes help page.
